The Opportunity: The Estimator plays a crucial role in assessing project requirements, analyzing costs, and preparing accurate estimates for landscape and snow contracts, property enhancement and landscape design projects. The Estimator will have a strong background in landscape maintenance and snow removal. Individuals with landscape architecture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.

Your Day to Day:

  • Evaluate scope of work, project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to generate estimates for contracts.
  • Perform site measurement for scope of work elements, both virtually and physical.
  • Conduct comprehensive cost forecasting, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, to prepare accurate and competitive project estimates.
  • Identify when equipment allocations are required/recommended and update estimate values to reflect cost and production.
  • Prepare detailed and professional bid proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with each project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Work closely with project managers and sales to establish and manage project budgets, providing ongoing cost updates as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and address any inquiries related to estimates.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market pricing, and new technologies to enhance the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of estimating processes, including data, assumptions, and methodologies used in each estimate.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from prior projects as needed.
  • Ensure that any quality issues are resolved.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Who You Are (Qualifications & Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Landscape Estimator in the landscape and snow industry.
  • Strong knowledge of landscape materials construction methods, and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of gross profit margins and net profit.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of landscaping materials, plants, and industry trends.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Must have:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Estimator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in estimating software.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Adaptable to change and enjoy work that frequently shifts direction.
  • Goal oriented and thrives in high-pressure working environments.
  • Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office suite and overall comfortability with technology is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
